A downloadable game for Windows

My entry for the 48 hour GMTK Game Jam 2020. Unfortunately I stumbled into technical difficulties, right before deadline, during the submission process. Thus, my game didn't make into submission. Still I think it would be fun to show regardless.

Summary:

It's a short first-person shooter / puzzle game where gravity changes depending on the color of the target you hit. The goal is to destroy all the targets and reach the exit without falling into boiling lava.

Development:

This was my first time using the unity engine for a game jam project. Gravity was originally going to change randomly at timed intervals to stick closer to the "Out of Control" theme, but I found that the gameplay flew better if the direction of gravity was, to a certain degree, affected by the player.

I ran into a plethora of technical problems during the jam and spent most of the time fixing bugs. Therefore, I only had enough time model a few levels, but I think it's enough to showcase what the concept is all about.

The neon retro art style was chosen to make everything more readable, less disorienting and because I figured it would mesh well with the core mechanic.

Created 3D models, textures, animations, code, music and sound effects myself in 48 hours, but made a couple of minor updates shortly after the initial release.

Cool idea!And nice level design!

I really love the idea! How did you came up with this idea?

I've often seen the gravity switching concept in 2D platformers, but I was eager to learn what the mechanic would feel like in a 3D game from a first-person perspective.

this game is super cool
i just wish it was a lil longer

oh ya in ver 1.1 it has a small issue that when you change sides you some times fall trough the wall

I noticed it as well, but was able to fix the clipping in the newest update. Also added one final third level for fun.
